On Tuesday, the 14th between 4pm est until 5pm est Dotster.com is giving away $1 domains (limit 1 per order, but you can make unlimited orders). Any COM/NET/ORG domain can be registered.

People post this on forums. They get free publicity. The site is so trafficed for 1 hour that NO names are regged.

Problem with this logic is that it pisses off more people and it attracts.

You only can reg 5 domains at the special price per IP address, and the promo ends at 5pm EST or after 1000 domains are sold at the promo price.

Not really worth the wait, I'd say stick with your normal registrars.

i tried registering a name but the price it asks me to pay is still $14.95/yr.

Hmmm..If the site was running faster I would say Proxy Time to bypass the 5 per IP, But damn It will take one hour to reg a single name.

If this is true then I really do believe this was a shoddy promotional attempt by Dotster to drum up some chatter at the expense of domain prospectors.
