Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You are arguing about this word. Enough said.
Thank you for your suggestions, GL with your domains.

Here's one that I came across years ago and I bet it has a lot of value to the site it is re-directing to. Then again maybe not that much. Maybe it would be worth more to an end buyer! Try it! news.com

Why not just get a good keyword domain that makes sense for the topic of the website or a brandable name? It's hard enough to build a sizeable website.

Hmm, well this certainly sounds interesting!.. Can you give us examples of the domains you're talking about here, Mike? :xf.wink:

Hey guys figured I would give you a heads up. I am liquidating some .IN bitcoin hacks. The Bitcoin domain hack Bitko.in sold for $3,525 earlier this year... and the CCTLD .IN is naturally the only way to own a Bitcoin domain hack. If anyone is interested in these please let me know. I am hoping to sell in bulk for XX-XXX total

aiCha.in
bigBitco.in
howBitco.in
wikiBitco.in
onlineBitco.in
indiaBitco.in
comprarBitco.in (Buy in Spanish)
kaufenBitco.in (Buy in German)

It is time for the next season of "Who uses domain hacks?" A mini-series to showcase individuals and businesses using awesome domain hacks to great effect!

If Drive.us was purchased as a hack, they could have done better for $99,999. I just haven't seen the .us extension as anything other than "dot u.s." There may be a few words or phrases that would warrant looking at it as "us". I never look for .us domain registrations or purchases to fit a hack.

I voted 'yes' to the question of whether drive.us should be considered a domain hack.
Why do you think it is?

Here is why it is not:

A domain hack should be kept pure; meaning the before and after the dot are a recognized conjunction of a pairing of characters that should the dot not have existed, it makes up a proper word with a definitive meaning.

Have we strayed from this, or is there something I'm missing? I mean we may as well just start putting common sayings and sentences then at this point and classify them as domain hacks.

GotPa.in seems like a solid name. EdibleS.top does not seem like such a great name. It definitely is situational and depends. Some who read this will say they are both trash. Just depends!

I personally avoid domain hacks, they look very nice, but they are hard to remember, type, or brand, mainly because of the extension involved, usually country codes.. I see these used only as subdomians for a website business as a backdoors.

You mean del.icio.us? It's a domain hack and one of the most well known of web 2. Delicious was acquired between $10M-15M by Yahoo! back in 2005.

In recent domain hack news:

paid.in was sold for $12,000 to Paidin.id via Premium.in.

Onuniverse.com which raised $30M last year has upgraded to Univer.se.
