If I buy the domain 'ayodhyaonline.org' , 'ayodhya.live' , 'ujjain.live' will it be considered illegal? Its a name of a place. However there are organizations related to those names like Ayodhya Ram Mandir etc. Also place name can be used for various contexts and purposes. There is a ayodhya hotel, ayodhya product brand etc. And .live it can be used by media also. And what if somebody copyrights or trademarks it after I buy a domain, any domain be it? So wanted to know quickly an answer for this doubt.

I am not an expert on the region, but cities like "Ayodhya" and "Ujjain" seem pretty generic at a cursory glance.

Among other things, it likely depends on the laws of the country. For example, France was able to get France.com. But here in the USA, I don't think the country, a state, or a city has any general legal right to obtain a domain with their name in it. There are obvious exceptions, such as if you put up a website pretending to be a specific state to commit fraud. If you're that concerned, talk with a local attorney.

Standard disclaimer: not a lawyer, not legal advice.
