Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Crazy stuff happening at y.at (yat) https://destiny.y.at/#auction-lots with a sub (emoji) domain hack selling for $425K.

This is incredible publicity for domain hacks and it will further increase their values.

We are looking into launching DomainHacks.com as a marketplace however it will probably be called something else using a domain hack, of course!

I am always fascinated when sites have both a hack and a matching keyword domain. Ideal examples are like:
mi.st and mist.com,
mel.ee and melee.com,
mechani.sm and mechanism.com,
pri.sm and prism.com.

I'm truly jealous of such names. So, I tried finding keywords for my hacks. As expected, it is mighty hard to get any good ones as all dot coms are taken. The few I managed were:
Aci.ng + Acing.io
Readi.ly + Readily.app
recour.se + BestRecourse.com
Surreal.Place + SurrealPlace.com

Share any hack+keyword domains you have!

got another one:

win.gs is owned by redbull

Funny to see that a NP member owned it back in 2006 --> thread
Hope he sold it for big money and thats the reason why he wasn't online since 2009.

Just as an fyi. - after completing hosting migration, Nami.ng is now back up and running, with a directory of 390 domain hacks in active use.

Thanks everyone for highlighting domain hacks on the last few pages, I'll review and add any new ones that are missing.

Feel free to DM me as well.

Catch is one of the oldest domain hack registrations under Switch, the Swiss registry.

First registration date: 07 February 1996

Internet is older than almost every domain hack we came across. Registered since 1992.

@DomainGaze.com very good and thanks for your continual contributions. Developed sites in my eyes are more indicative of a niches/trends success than sales data, because it goes beyond speculation and into hard confirmation of usage.

Hello dear friends.

I imagine that a domain hack has value if the term is taken in many tlds but does a domain hack have value even if there are very few operational websites among the registered tlds?
In that case, I'd say if it is short and sweet it still would have value. But yes, as with all names, the more a keyword is in demand, the more value the hack would carry. I understand your concern about actual developed sites versus just domains registered and I would look for at least a few developed sites to be assured if the keyword has some value.
Also, sometimes there are hacks where the hack makes more sense than the actual keyword domain. An example would be, can.do, which is a great hack and is a meaningful two-word phrase while cando.whatever may not make as much sense.

Sold a 2 word hack (extension being the second word) for $5k yesterday and it looks like I might close another domain hack sale in the same range next week to another enduser.

Just got this one. g.gs

I thought it might be a good hack for a horse betting site.

i.e. gee gees.

Does that make sense?

Another one i consider not to be a hack

If I was to take a guess, it could be an enduser who finds "hacks" cool & wants to develop a porn site.

I don't think so. You'd have to be an unbelievable moron to think that this domain has any kind of merit for development....

Just posting this as I have just seen it (6 hours late I should add), Max Guerin has tweeted today that he has sold voc.al for $5k.

This is just reporting his tweet, no other confirmation check done.

unf. there isn't for auction type listings (ebay/flippa potato potahto) but you can obv. list on marketplaces and just wait and pray lol, the best "venue" is just hunting after potential endusers which is even more true for hacks than .com's imo...
